BD Calcium Assay Kits

BD introduces two new calcium assay kits for detecting calcium flux in living cells.

For standard applications

For probenecid sensitive applications

The proprietary formulations combine a non-fluorescent calcium indicator that becomes activated inside the cell, along with a signal enhancer to provide an easy to use, no-wash assay format with increased signal to background. In most cases, the dye kits perform better than kits currently available on the market with no known interference to ligands (small molecules, peptide/proteins and lipids). Also, the "addition artifact" commonly seen with some kits is significantly reduced with these new dye formulations.

The kits have been successfully used with a variety of cell lines including CHO, HEK293, Jurkat, Hela, and U2OS.

Kits are available in two sizes providing sufficient material for either 10 plates (96, 384, or 1536- well), or 100 plates. Additionally, for higher volume customers, custom packaged materials can also be provided.

In the absence of probenecid, not only does the BD PBX Calcium Assay kit provide a better signal over background, but there is a noted absence of the "addition artifact" seen using the competitive product.
