ABC Transporter Vesicles

Description:

ABC Transporters are ATP-dependent efflux pumps. They are expressed in many tissues. These transporters are capable of transporting many organic anions, organic anion conjugates and other substrates across cell membranes. High level expression of these proteins has been linked to drug resistance during chemotherapy. Vesicles expressing these ABC transporters are prepared using baculovirus-infected insect cells.

These vesicles can be used to determine transporter-mediated drug uptake. The uptake assay is a direct assay, and can be high-throughput. The uptake assay can be applied to both radio-labeled and non-radiolabeled compounds. A protocol to perform ATP-dependent uptake of radiolabeled substrates in 96-well plates is provided in the batch data sheet. Other applications of this product are possible.
